Mahabahu Fisheries Private Limited

Mahabahu Fisheries Private Limited is one of the largest & fastest growing fish production companies in North East India. With unmatched expertise in semi-intensive & composite fish farming adopting low-cost innovative models, feed manufacturing plants, and Fish Seed Nurseries, the company has forged a formidable niche in the fish market of the region. Ever since its inception in 2016 by Mr. Anup Sarmah with his brothers Anjan Sarmah & Ashok Sarmah, the company has risen steadfastly from humble beginnings with just 3 hectares land area to a large enterprise covering more than 28 hectares land area in 2021. The company has adopted the theme “Converting waste & unproductive land to a Productive Fish Farming land in Assam”. Under this, the company has successfully demonstrated that unused wasteland could be converted into rich & productive land by growing fish. Adhering to national standards, the company has been bringing quality fish seeds from the National Freshwater Fish Brood Bank developed by National Fishery Development Board (NFDB, GoI). The quality seeds of improved Catla, Jayanti Rahu, and Amur Common Carp seeds are brought from NFDB by the company and are grown in the nurseries.

Our mission is to develop replicable fishery models applicable to all the geographic locations to accelerate the growth of fishery industry output through the use of high technology, thereby, increasing productivity as well as target export.

Fish Farming & Rearing

The firm has the expertise in Semi-intensive fish farming. We provide genetically improved fish seed, high quality local & branded feed, vitamins & supplements and technical support to the connected farmers.

Feed Manufacturing

The company produces high quality sinking feed of 10 tons per day. We also supply branded floating feeds of reputed producers like Abis & Godrej.

Seed Production

The high-yielding fish seed produced at our nursery & hatchery for captive consumption in aquaculture is providing essential seed support to the company's aqua farmers as well as others from the surrounding area.

Consultation

The company provides technical support, training & consultation to fish farmers. While visiting the fish farmers, our crew carefully checks the water quality of the pond in the field.

Anup Sarmah, MSc: Completed MSc in Botany from Gauhati University in 2002, worked in RRL Jorhat under Govt of India research institute till 2005, then worked in NGO sector till 2016, undergone training in Asian Health Institute Japan on International Leadership Development course, undergone training in NGO INAM Philippines).

Anjan Sarmah

MA, MBA

Anjan Sarmah, MA: Completed MA from Rajib Gandhi University in 2000, undergone MBA in Cyprus. He has seven years of experience in Supply Chain & Logistic Management while working in NATO base station in Afghanistan.
